Untroubled Waters

ZENSCAPE

This landscape by Campion Hruby Landscape Architects was part of the renovation of a mid-century modern house by KUBE Architecture. Campion Hruby designed the fountain to add more drama to the already strong modernist connections with the garden.  The water provides a visual connection outside, and the stepping stone path is a bridge to the garden.

WOODLAND WATERFALL

Using boulders artistically, McHale Landscape Design constructed a free-flowing waterfall and pond. The firm accentuated the design with plantings meant to create a natural sensibility, fulfilling their client’s wish to have a spectacular view from their new bathroom. Limited space prevented the use of any machines. All the stone and plant material were put into place by hand.

Miniature Versailles

This formal courtyard created for a family in Potomac, Maryland by Lewis-Aquatech Pool Company echoes the classical proportions of a miniature Versailles, with symmetrical, repetitive elements referencing ancient Greek temples. Fine materials were used, including granite trim for niches in which to hang art and a rich mahogany pergola, to complement the pristine pool and water fountains.
