1. The Annapolis Maritime Museum is one of the great cultural treasures of the city. The Museum, located in Eastport, is housed in the historic McNasby Oyster Company, located on Back Creek and overlooking the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. The museum has a second campus, Back Creek Nature Park, on the other side of the Creek. The Maritime Museum offers exhibitions and programs that educate youth and adults about the area’s maritime heritage and Chesapeake Bay ecology. The museum offers distinctive programs throughout the year, including, the Tides and Tunes Summer Concert Services, held outside on the museum’s McNasby waterfront campus. 2. The Maritime Museum also serves as the site for Eastport-a-Rockin, which takes place June 23rd from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The event, which supports local charities, showcases local musical talent and includes four stages with over 35 Bands. Get the details at eastportarockin.com.
3. Historic Annapolis offers excellent programs for children and adults. An upcoming lecture is especially intriguing, particularly for everyone interested in art, design, and antiques. Dr. Oscar Fitzgerald, author of American Furniture: 1650 to the Present, will present a lecture, “Four Centuries of Chairs,” on Thursday, May 31, 6:30 p.m., at the William Paca House and Garden. 4. Plan now for the 27th Annual Annapolis Art Walk on Thursday, August 17 from 5-9 p.m. Over 20 art galleries, including the Annapolis Collection Gallery and the McBride Gallery, participate.
